Rules checked 14 Oct 2026· built for Nigerian students

Your study-abroad plan, in naira.

StudyWaka is an AI admissions agent for Nigerian students. It matches you to countries you can actually afford, works out the proof of funds each visa needs, and plans every step from transcripts to travel.

What changed this year

Four rule changes that decide where Nigerian students can go in 2027. The agent already knows every one of them.

Since 1 Jan 2026

US student visas paused

New F, M and J visas are suspended for Nigerian passports. Existing valid visas still work.

June 2026 · 30 Nov 2026

UK checks get stricter

Universities must keep visa refusals under 5%. Required living funds rise to £1,203–£1,570 a month for applications from 30 Nov.

From 1 Sept 2026

Canada raises proof of funds

CA$23,448 for one person, plus tuition and travel. Master's and PhD applicants no longer need a PAL.

From 1 Jan 2027

UK Graduate Route shrinks

18 months to work after a bachelor's or master's, down from 2 years. PhD graduates keep 3 years.

Questions

How much does it cost?

Planning is free: country and university matches, guides, proof of funds, your plan and the applications tracker. The AI agent, mock interviews and statement help use credits. You start with 1,500 free credits, then packs start at ₦2,000, and you can earn more by inviting friends. See Pricing.

Is StudyWaka a study-abroad agency?

No. It's a planning tool with an AI agent. It doesn't apply on your behalf, represent universities or sell visa services. You apply directly to universities and embassies.

Do I need an account?

You can explore matches, guides, proof of funds and your plan as a guest. Create a free account to use the AI agent, mock interviews and statement help, keep your plan on every device, buy credits and invite friends. You get 1,500 free credits when you confirm your email.

Where does my information go?

Your account and plan are stored securely on StudyWaka's servers so they work on any device. Your chats stay on your device. When you ask the agent something, your question and a summary of your profile go to Manus's managed AI service to process the request for StudyWaka. See the Privacy Policy.

Can it guarantee admission or a visa?

No one can. Universities and embassies decide. Be wary of anyone who promises a guaranteed visa for a fee.

How current are the rules?

They were checked on 14 October 2026 and each carries its source. Rules and exchange rates change, so confirm on the official site before you pay or apply.

Does it recommend specific universities?

Yes. University matches ranks about 80 named universities and colleges in your best-fit countries for your level, field, grades and budget, and you can shortlist them straight into your tracker. Fees shown are typical for each type of institution, so always confirm the course fee, entry requirements and deadline on the university's own page.

Can it help me prepare for a visa or credibility interview?

Yes. Interview practice runs a mock UK credibility interview, German embassy interview, admissions or scholarship interview using your profile, one question at a time. At the end it scores your answers and shows stronger versions built only from your real facts. You can answer out loud: it turns your speech into text as you talk and measures your pace and filler words.

Why is the US marked as paused?

Since 1 January 2026 the US has suspended new student and exchange visas for Nigerian nationals. Students who already hold a valid visa, and dual nationals applying on another passport, are not affected.

About StudyWaka

Studying abroad shouldn't start with guesswork.

We built StudyWaka so a Nigerian student can see, in naira and in one sitting, where they can afford to study, what the visa wants to see, and what to do this month.

Eight countries, one plan

Each destination has a full guide: year-one costs in naira, what the visa wants to see, and what has changed for Nigerian applicants.

Why we built it

Planning to study abroad from Nigeria means juggling moving parts at once: a naira that moves daily, visa rules that changed several times in 2026, proof-of-funds amounts in four currencies, and transcripts that take months to come out of a registry.

Most students piece this together from forum threads, WhatsApp forwards and agents who charge before they explain. Some are pushed towards "funds for display" schemes that end in refusals and bans.

StudyWaka puts the current rules, the arithmetic and the plan in one place, and an AI agent that can explain them for your situation.

What it does, and what it doesn't

It does

  • Rank eight countries for your grades, budget and family
  • Work out proof of funds and year-one cost in naira
  • Build a timeline and document checklist
  • Track your applications and deadlines
  • Run practice credibility, embassy and scholarship interviews
  • Help draft and critique your statement of purpose
  • Tell you when it isn't sure, and where to check

It doesn't

  • Apply to universities or embassies for you
  • Promise admission, visas or scholarships
  • Take commissions to steer you to a university
  • Help with borrowed funds or edited documents
  • Keep your chat text on our servers unless you choose to share it

StudyWaka is a planning tool, not a recruitment agency. If our business model changes, these pages will say so.

How we keep it accurate

Every visa rule, fee and funds figure in the agent's knowledge base carries the date it was checked and a source. The current set was checked on 14 October 2026. Exchange rates use the published CBN rate and the Lagos parallel-market rate, and you choose which one to plan with.

The agent is told to use only those facts for rules and money, to say when something isn't covered, and to point you to the official source. AI can still make mistakes, so confirm anything important before you pay or apply.

Who's behind it

StudyWaka is built in Lagos by ATAfrica, a venture studio that builds AI-first products for Nigerian users.

1,500 free credits· no card needed

Plan for free.
Pay only for AI help.

Matches, guides, proof of funds, your plan and your tracker cost nothing. The agent, mock interviews and statement help use credits, and every answer shows what it used.

Always free

  • Country and university matches
  • Proof of funds and savings plan
  • Plan, checklist and applications tracker
  • Country guides

Uses credits

  • An agent answer: about 200 credits
  • A mock interview with feedback: about 150 credits
  • An SOP draft, critique or trim: about 170 credits
  • Longer questions and answers use more
What is a credit?

Credits pay for the AI work: the agent's answers, mock interviews and statement drafts. The number used depends on how long your question, your profile summary and the answer are. Each answer shows exactly what it used.

Do credits expire?

No. Credits stay on your account while it's open, so unused credits carry over to your next application season.

How do I pay?

With a Nigerian card, bank transfer or USSD through Paystack. You pay on Paystack's secure page; StudyWaka never sees your card details. Credits appear as soon as the payment goes through.

Can I earn free credits?

Yes. Open Invite friends in the app and share your code. Friends get 20% extra credits on their first pack, and you get 1,500 credits for each friend who buys one, up to 20 friends a year.

Can I get a refund?

[Refund policy for unused paid credits]
